Armacao de Pera - an overview
Armacao de Pera lies West of Albufeira around 47km from Faro in Portugal's Algarve region. Armacao de Peras' name is derived from its original business as a fishing village - ‘armacao' means tuna net and ‘Pera' was the name of a village closeby - the fishing net of Pera. Armacao de Pera is a developing resort with a mix of narrow cobbled streets housing quaint fishermen's cottages and newly developing accommodations, restaurants, bars and even a disco. Armacao de Pera's very long, wide, sandy beach offers a great place for children to play and boat trips past the dramatic Senhora da Rocha headland to isolated sandy coves.
