Lagos - an overview
Lagos is in the West of the Algarve, Portugal and is a mixed resort built around the 17th century fort and fallen down walls that guard the harbour entrance. Lagos has an amazing mix, there's the magnificent new marina, classic town squares, a fish market and lighthouses that help to protect the 9 beautiful beaches. They stretch from the long sweeping golden sands of European Blue Flag Meia Praia to the coved seclusion of Praia do Camilo. Lagos's history and white washed buildings have been preserved as much of the development has arisen outside of the town centre and Lagos offers a great mix of shops, boutiques, bars, restaurants and cafes.
