Meloneras - an overview
Bordering Maspalomas in the south of the island, Meloneras is a quiet, upmarket holiday resort and will appeal to those who want to totally relax and get away from it all. Nestling above the beach, it boasts breathtaking views and paved promenade, lined with an excellent choice of bars and restaurants, running the full length of the shoreline from the Varadero commercial centre to the Maspalomas sand dunes. The wonderfully long stretch of beach at Meloneras is typically quiet, even on Sundays when local families spend the day enjoying the sand and sea.
Away from the shores, you'll find plenty to fill your time. There's the brand spanking new shopping centre where you can melt some plastic on no end of designer labels. Golf addicts can challenge themselves on the 18-hole course here. Or simply pull up a chair at one of the excellent restaurants and bars and step in time to the laid back pace of life here.
